WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
The stills are powered by solar panels and the bottle labels from discarded grape skins. Sustainability is at the heart of 58 And CO, but so is flavour. This is a multi-award-winning distillery based under the arches in Haggerston, the beating heart of Hackney. The company is also unusual as the founder is female, a woman who set out to become a shoemaker but ended up as an expert on Gin. Carmen, aka ‘Cocktail Carmen’ is a regular on BBC’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’ as their spirits expert.
This is an hour of Gin tasting. You will be trying 4 of their signature spirits and learning the tips and tricks for tasting gin, as well as getting hands-on with botanicals. There will be stories and tales as you delve into the dark past of the gindustry, but you will also hear about the future which is just as riveting. 58 And CO have a bright, light and very sustainable story to tell.
Expect a memorable gin and tonic on arrival, and if you don’t like tonic there are plenty of alternative mixers. The space is welcoming, a hidden gem, and an inspiring venue to taste and savour the handcrafted deliciousness produced by their stills. The perfect pre-cursor to a night out in Islington or Hackney.
