Toshiko is an excellent origami teacher and a bundle of energy. The Snooty Fox was full and Toshiko kept the energy in the room light and relaxed the entire time. She has such a passion for bringing her Japanese culture to the West and you can tell that she absolutely loves her craft and makes you love it too.
We learned about the origins of the tradition and that origami translates to 'folding paper' -ori (fold) and kami (paper). Then we had a warm-up learning how to make paper hearts. There was an abundance of beautifully designed paper so we could pick our favourite patterns. I didn't mess up all day because Toshiko was so thorough and clear with her instructions and gave lots of help. After making different sized hearts, we moved onto the main event - Easter bunnies! I love that the workshop was themed-very Kawaii! I felt very accomplished at the end having made multiple bunnies and hearts.
I learned so much in 2 hours and the time flew by. I'm so happy with my new skill and can't wait to keep practicing and making little origami presents for my friends for Easter.
