‘Palm Springs meets Pontins’ is how the three designers behind this Margate based revival project describe their static caravan. We call it the epitome of cool.

WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

The Willerby BK Bluebird is housed in Birchington Vale Holiday Park, and has been transformed into a Palm Springs haven by travel writer Anna Hart, interiors stylist Emma Jane Palin and designer Whinnie Williams who worked together under the umbrella name of ‘Club Jupiter’.

The colour palette is earthy, the fabric on the living room sofa is Poodle and Blond, the paint by Coat and the flooring from Forbo. All cutting edge companies. Alongside you will find vintage fabrics, junk store finds (albeit Margate junk stores, which are a cut above most), and trinkets, put together with innovation and style.

Each designer took on a room. Dolly P. meets Elvis meets Jungle Rock.  If you want to borrow a lifestyle this is the place to do it. It is huge fun.

We should also mention there are two bathrooms, complete with retro suite and a cloakroom toilet with cork walls and terrazzo flooring. The outside space is home to pot plants and some 70’s rattan.

This caravan can host 6 people at a time (three bedrooms) and is a phenomenally good price. The holiday park itself has an indoor pool, bar and restaurant with evening entertainment (yes!) and crazy golf. Really there is more ’Hi-de-hi’ on site than you could possibly wish for, and of course Margate proper is only a twelve minute car journey away.

So gather together some happy campers and prepare to rethink the humble caravan.

• Open 1 March - 30 November (the caravan has heaters but no central heating)
• Peak Rate = Weekends and bank/school holidays
• Off Peak Rate = Weekdays (not during school/bank holidays)
• Up to 6 people
• Inclusive of towels, basic toiletries, tea/coffee
• Nr Margate
• One well behaved dog under 10kg is welcome (must not be left unattended in the caravan and must be kept on a lead if outside the caravan).
