WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

It would be easy to think that you could just go for a walk in a forest and get the same health results.  It is true that once you have acquired the technique, you can use it in any wood, but Shinrin-yoku requires you to totally engage with the nature around you.  Walking along normally means you will still be thinking about things that dominate our busy lives—work, the children, dinner.  This walk will teach you how to detach and open your senses in a way you could never accomplish on your own.

Forest bathing is a well-being and health promotion practice.  The walk will cover a gentle mile and will take up to three hours.  During the walk, you will be offered ways to open up your senses and connect with the forest. You won’t be asked to hug a tree - but you can if you want to.

Sometimes you will be asked to gather as a group. There is no pressure to participate if you don’t feel like it. You won’t be asked to speak out or share anything—this is not a counseling session; it is all about you relaxing.  Calm is the watchword here.  Forest bathing can lower stress, restore mental energy, and boost the immune system.
Learning to truly relax and become present in the moment is the antidote to our technology-driven lifestyle.  We should all be doing it, and now we can.

 

THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Location - Croxteth Country Park, Liverpool
  • Available once a month on Saturdays 10am-12.30pm
  • Includes herbal tea and light snacks
  • Maximum group size - 12 people
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather and time of year.  2-3 warm layers of clothing are recommended, along with waterproofs if it forecasts rain. Walking boots/sturdy shoes are also recommended as it can be muddy and wet underfoot.
  • Sessions will be cancelled if there is a yellow weather warning and another date offered.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?
