WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

You really won’t believe it’s one you made earlier. Envelope yourself in a delicious scarf, of many colours, designed and created in this weaving workshop. Conquer the loom and realise the potential of the 2 shaft.

Make Town is a creative textile heaven. It is an epic space set over three floors. You will be on the second floor in the weaving studio, filled to the brim with yarns and fibres. The ceilings are high and it feels very peaceful. The colours alone will inspire you to wind the warp.  

WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS WORKSHOP?

This is a two-day course, which takes place over two afternoons. If necessary you can leave a couple of weeks between each lesson if you really need to. There’s a lot to learn. Day one is getting to grips with colours and the loom. You will be learning to thread the comb and shafts methodically and accurately ready to weave.  On the second day you will be weaving your design before tying tails and twisting tassels.

If you feel that you already have enough scarves (really ?), then you can weave a cushion cover instead, and everyone knows a chair that’s crying out for a change.

Day One:

• Measure and choose your own warp colours in 100% cotton
• Choose either scarf (approx 30cm wide x 200cm long) or cushion cover (2x fronts 45cm wide-100cm long)
• Thread the comb and shafts methodically and accurately
• Set and wind the warp onto the loom

Day Two:

• Weave your design
• Tie your tails – or finish on the overlocker
• Trim and finish the weaving with twisted tassels
