Cast off and set sail for a 6-course seafood dining experience aboard a London barge. Exquisite British seafood while drifting through Regents Park, Little Venice and London Zoo via the Regent's Canal.
"The fish counter tempts like a spilling treasure chest. This restaurant is jolly, breezy, upbeat and very enticing – and they do wonderful things to new potatoes, too". William Sitwell - The Telegraph
WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Do you like to eat on the move? This experience is more of a drift, and the food is definitely not fast. The Prince Regent is a beautifully restored wide-beam barge, moored in the Paddington Basin and ready to cruise down the historic Regent’s Canal.
Your journey will last 2.5 hours and during that time you will be served some serious delicious British seafood. This is a proper fish restaurant. Fine dining on a barge. It’s also an adventure as you drift through Little Venice, past London Zoo, Regent’s Park and through the rather dramatic Maida Hill Tunnel.
During the cruise you will be served six courses, with a wine paired with every dish. The menu is seasonal and like all the best restaurants changes depending on what is available that week, but whether it's cured Dorset Trout or Cornish mussel chowder you will be thrilled by the menu.
The tables are squeezed together, but it all makes for a very jolly ambience, you are all sharing a boating adventure, with safety precautions issued by the Captain before you leave. You can also marvel at the chefs working in the very smallest of spaces, and wonder how they do it.
We can’t think of anything not to love about this cruise. It takes place along the prettiest stretch of water, giving a view of the houses and gardens that you couldn’t see any other way and the food is fishtastic.
Wave goodbye to the landlubbers as you leave and expect to be enchanted.
ABOUT LONDON SHELL CO
London Shell Co. own two London seafood restaurants. Both barges. One travels somewhere, and one doesn’t. The menus on both are delicious and between them these seafood restaurants in London make quite a splash in Paddington Basin. This area is still synonymous with a bear and a train station, but thanks to the canal, the ‘basin’ bit has been transformed and is filled with smart bars, restaurants and boats.
The portholes offer a glimpse into a world, where lunch looks like a treat. The sort of place you expect to find on holiday, it's not everyday. It’s spacious, friendly, the glasses sparkle, and you can smile at the passing boats. It oozes charm.
This is a fabulous spot for a meet-up with friends, or a first date - lots to talk about.
