Nothing is more pleasing than eating from a bowl you've made yourself.  Learn the art of ceramics in this two-hour, one-on-one workshop. This is a destination pottery class.

WHAT'S THIS POTTERY CLASS ALL ABOUT?

This is a private pottery experience. Carmel Eskell crafts and curates bespoke tableware for boutique hotels and restaurants all over the country - if you live in Bristol, you have probably already eaten off one of her dishes. She works from a studio 20 minutes outside Bristol, set in a working woodyard with timber-framed buildings and a farm shop nearby.  It's the perfect setting for an artist's studio and a ceramics workshop.

Carmel's classes are a destination. Students arrive from far and wide to learn from her.  She is a marvellous teacher who wants to share her skills in this relaxed and friendly environment. The studio is equipped with two pottery wheels and ample space for hand-building projects if that's your preference. Clean aprons and towels are provided.

TELL ME MORE

You'll start with a demonstration from Carmel, then move on to creating simple forms. This gives you time to get comfortable working with the wheel and the clay. Carmel will guide you based on what you'd like to make. Feel free to bring your own ideas, drawings, or pictures.  If not, she has plenty of shapes for you to explore.

By the end of the class, you'll have a bowl, plate, and maybe even a candlestick - one of Carmel's favourite starter pieces.  All the pieces will be clear-glazed.

This is a very tactile and mindful experience. Just relax and enjoy as you learn to spin the clay.
