An immersive historical wine tasting tour in London led by acclaimed historian and broadcaster Dr Matthew Green.
WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
A plague pit as a vineyard? Really? This is a tour around medieval London with the delightful Dr Matthew Green, and what he doesn’t know about hermit's cells, punishment rituals, and the exotic multicoloured wine that was the liquid gold of London frankly isn’t worth knowing. In fact this is your moment to immerse yourself in the medieval metropolis, as well as sampling a coconut-shell of frothy medieval rosé, and two glasses of the more modern variety.
Expect a few interactions with plague widows, local vintners and religious fanatics along the way, as costumed actors and musicians leap out when you least expect it. This is an immersive experience guaranteed to bring the old city back to life, and an excuse to stagger around the medieval streets of London. An absolute must for anyone with the slightest interest in our bawdy social history.

*** TIME OUT CRITICS’ CHOICE *** – 4/5 stars: “The winning Dr Matthew Green paints a lively picture of Medieval London…There can’t be many walking tours that take the ‘getting you drunk’ bit almost as seriously as the history bit. Luckily, the stories we’d heard were plenty vivid enough to stick in our fuzzy head…’
