Stockport is fast becoming ‘The New Berlin.’ This is a mouthwatering 3-hour tour, think local vendors, artisanal spirits, and fascinating stories.
WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Stockport is fast becoming ‘The New Berlin.’ There’s ‘Foodie Friday,’ when thousands descend on the Old Town to eat and listen to music, and areas deprived from years of underinvestment have been taken over by bars, bakeries, and boutiques. The brakes are definitely off, and Stockport is now featured as one of the best places to live in the North West.
Only eight minutes from Manchester, the area is home to an art and food scene that is ready to explode. If you haven’t been yet, then this is the tour to introduce you to some of the North West’s best, most delicious independent food vendors.
TELL ME MORE
This is a 3-hour stroll through the old town and market area. Stop-offs will include local producers, distillers, bakers, and, of course, the history of the town. There will be stories. Lots of them. Your guide will be local, an expert in anecdotes, and how Stockport played its part in shaping the world. Indeed, dressing the world for Stockport was the centre of the country’s hatting industry. In 1884, Stockport could boast of exporting more than six million hats a year. That’s a lot of hats.
But this is a foodie tour. There will be six different stops as you graze from place to place - call it a full-on lunch by the time you’ve finished. If you’re vegetarian, give the tour a heads up in advance, so you don’t miss out on any treats.
So find out what the buzz is all about - bite by bite.
